🌼Every Thursday evening in June 2025, and the first Thursday of July, the hidden garden Eendrachtstuin transforms into Filmtuin, our beloved yearly open-air cinema. From sundown, we’ll screen a mix of arthouse films, handpicked by neighbours and WORM’s film team.

 

📜Good to know:

  • We have 35 seats and silent disco headsets available.
  • Entry is free: first come, first served!
  • All films have English subtitles.
  • We start at 21:30
  • Bring your own snacks and drinks.

🎥PROGRAMME:
June 5 – Little Richard: I Am Everything (Lisa Cortés, 2023), 98min
A kaleidoscopic portrait of the flamboyant architect of rock ‘n’ roll, this documentary reclaims Little Richard’s complex legacy as a Black queer trailblazer. Through archival footage and sharp commentary, it confronts the cultural forces that tried to silence him.

June 12 – As Far As the Sea (Marco Gastine, 2019), 108min
In an Athenian hospital’s rehabilitation unit, critically injured patients relearn how to walk and reclaim autonomy. Caught between acceptance and denial, they navigate loss, hope, and faith  each holding on to one shared dream: reaching the sea.

June 19 – PlayTime (Jacques Tati, 1967), 115 min.
In this beloved masterpiece of visual comedy, Monsieur Hulot wanders through a hyper-modern Paris where technology and architecture distort human interaction. Tati’s meticulously choreographed satire remains as delightfully baffling and visionary as ever.

June 26 – Tristana (Luis Buñuel, 1970), 99 min.
 Buñuel’s subversive psychological drama charts the twisted power dynamics between a young woman and her aging guardian in Franco-era Spain. Haunting and ironic, Tristana is a masterclass in repressed desire and shifting identities.

July 3  – Little Man, Time and the Troubadour (Ineke Smits, 2022), 104 min.
Artist Sipa Labakhua journeys through Abkhazia with his puppet theatre, performing an autobiographical play about his father’s displacement during the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict. Through these intimate performances, he gathers personal stories from diverse communities, weaving a poetic exploration of identity, memory, and the meaning of home in a post-conflict society.

🌼Elke donderdagavond in juni 2025, en op de eerste donderdag van juli, verandert de verborgen tuin de Eendrachtstuin in de Filmtuin – onze jaarlijkse mini-openluchtbioscoop. Vanaf zonsondergang vertonen we een mix van arthouse films, zorgvuldig geselecteerd door buurtbewoners en het filmteam van WORM.

5 juni – Little Richard: I Am Everything (Lisa Cortés, 2023), 98min
Opwindend en kleurrijk portret van Little Richard, een van de grondleggers van de rock ‘n’ roll. De film laat een onderbelichte kant van hem zien, namelijk die van een zwarte, queer pionier. Via unieke archiefbeelden en interviews met onder anderen John Waters en Mick Jagger, worden de mechanismen blootgelegd die zijn invloed jarenlang hebben gemarginaliseerd.

12 juni – As Far As the Sea (Marco Gastine, 2019), 108 min
In de revalidatieafdeling van een ziekenhuis in Athene leren zwaar gewonde patiënten opnieuw lopen en hun zelfstandigheid terug te winnen. Tussen acceptatie en ontkenning door, balanceren ze op de grens van verlies, hoop en geloof – allen met één gedeelde droom: de zee bereiken.

19 juni – PlayTime (Jacques Tati, 1967), 115 min.
Monsieur Hulot dwaalt door een futuristisch Parijs waar moderniteit en technologie het menselijk contact ontwrichten. Deze tijdloze klassieker is een visueel meesterwerk vol subtiele humor en geniale choreografie.

26 juni – Tristana (Luis Buñuel, 1970), 99 min.
Buñuels psychologische drama legt de giftige machtsverhoudingen bloot tussen een jonge vrouw en haar voogd in het Spanje van Franco. Tristana is een beklemmende en ironische film over verlangen, vrijheid en identiteit.

3 juli – Little Man, Time and the Troubadour (Ineke Smits, 2022), 104 min.
Kunstenaar Sipa Labakhua trekt met zijn poppentheater door Abchazië en brengt een autobiografisch stuk over de gedwongen vlucht van zijn vader tijdens het Georgisch-Abchazische conflict. Via intieme voorstellingen en ontmoetingen verzamelt hij verhalen van uiteenlopende gemeenschappen en schetst zo een poëtische vertelling over identiteit, herinnering en wat ‘thuis’ betekent in een samenleving die getekend is door oorlog.
