Every Thursday evening in June 2025, and the first Thursday of July, the hidden garden Eendrachtstuin transforms into Filmtuin, our beloved yearly open-air cinema. From sundown, we’ll screen a mix of arthouse films, handpicked by neighbours and WORM’s film team.

Little Richard: I Am Everything

With a combination of archival materials and interviews, Little Richard: I Am Everything brings Richard Penniman to life- a Black queer icon and the (hidden) godfather of rock n’ roll. The documentary unravels Richard’s unapologetic creative process and his powerful impact to society at the time, as well as the contemporary music industry.

Kicking off this year’s Filmtuin, this screening is curated by WORM’s film programmer, film-maker Tim Leyendekker. With his own work often touching upon the LGBTQI+ community and the queer experience overall, this film selection makes no exception- while paying homage to a queer icon of the 20th century, it beautifully recounts the struggles as well as the victories of the LGBTQI+ community across decades.

Elke donderdagavond in juni 2025, en op de eerste donderdag van juli, verandert de verborgen tuin de Eendrachtstuin in de Filmtuin – onze jaarlijkse mini-openluchtbioscoop. Vanaf zonsondergang vertonen we een mix van arthouse films, zorgvuldig geselecteerd door buurtbewoners en het filmteam van WORM.

Het verhaal van deze markante queerpionier verafgood door vele muziekgrootheden wordt entertainend én informatief verteld in de heerlijke rockdoc van Lisa Cortès (All In: The Fight for Democracy). Baanbrekend tussen God, seks en rock ‘n roll bleef Little Richard zijn leven lang moeilijk te duiden en daardoor een fascinerende en inspirerende podium- en cameraverschijning. Dankzij Cortès’ slimme montage komen we ietsje dichterbij het enigma, en dat maakt dit muziekportret uitermate de moeite waard, op 9 mei precies 3 jaar na zijn overlijden.
