On Packing Light is an ongoing artistic research depository by Lili Huston-Herterich. It uses the method of episodic sound (it’s a podcast) to think through, at first the subjects of textiles and clothing (ranging from personal accounts to political histories), and in the future, tangential subjects from this basis. On Packing Light has explored the personal and political sentimental capacity of textiles, and speculates the ways in which capitalism has shaped our relationship to and understanding of our personal belongings.
Available & The Rat is an artistic project space in an apartment in Rotterdam, in the neighbourhood of Charlois. The program is mostly facilitated by those who have lived in the space since the project began: so far, artists Pascale de Graaf and Lili Huston-Herterich. It is currently run by Lili.
Available & The Rat Radio is a broadcast used to further disseminate artists’ artistic sound, research, and other practices through interviews, sound works, special guests, music, and otherwise. The radio hosts artists exhibiting at Available & The Rat, documentation of events at Available & The Rat, and other experiments extending the home/exhibition space into sonic space.
Lili Huston-Herterich is an artist based in Rotterdam. Her practice involves material and processual research that asks who and what she is with, and where these things come from. She is concerned with how her work emerges in complicated relation to space, history, and other lives, and how to maintain an awareness of these relations. In her studio, she works with found materials and textiles, makes photographs, records sound, writes, sews, and pretends to prepare for performances. She runs a project space from her apartment in Rotterdam called Available & The Rat, and often collaborates with other people.
