Fem Fest 2024 – Radio Echo x Radio WORM present: Feminist Frequencies

Radio WORM fully immerses into Fem Fest for three days: connecting feminist voices! Next to that, there will be two nights with a live audience dedicated to the experience of listening, moving & creating collective sonic environments, curated by sound practitioner and educator Loma Doom.

Radio WORM has invited Radio Echo, who will host three full days of radio in WORM during the Fem Fest. This wonderful collective focuses on breaking down narratives of long-unexamined and unrevised world views. They create a landscape for multiple voices to thrive and reverberate. For Fem Fest, Radio Echo invites Rotterdam based feminist initiatives & radiomakers to create radio content for the WORM Radio station.
Radio Echo decided to make this an open curatorial experiment by collective co-creation in stead of making their own selection. Expect sound art, music, live reports, talks and archival material, from a great variety of participants. Make way for sonic activism! Feminist Frequencies rule the waves!

ABOUT FEM FEST 2024

Some traditions are worth holding on to. That is why WORM celebrates International Women’s Day with our annual festival around the 8th of March.

We celebrate to remember the years of struggle and fight for justice for women and LGBTQ+ people. There is still so much to improve today, and we are far from having equal rights: a UN press release disclosed that in 57 countries almost half of the women are denied autonomy over their own body. And all over the world LGBTQ+ people experience harassment on a daily basis.

This year, WORM focuses on one of the most powerful means of change: sound. We invite you to indulge in the Feminist Frequencies of the Fem Fest 2024. These frequencies will oscillate and vibrate, through soundwaves, radio waves, and the voice – making sure that we amplify the voices that need to be heard.
