Graduating students of the Experimental Publishing Master (XPUB), Piet Zwart Institute, invite you to tune into the frequencies of their collective knowledges during an evening and afternoon in WORM, Rotterdam.

We’ve been traveling in a vast place and we went into all directions, so we had to learn how to keep contact by exchanging our frequencies from here and there. We listen attentively. We disconnect. We seek out the wavelengths. Attend to interference. We establish collective protocols.
While tuning in we learnt how to build our own ways to exchange ideas, gather materials, draw links and take care of each other. In Walkie Talkie our interference becomes material, as we collected our messages sent while exploring. The method we found is now ready to be shared, emerging through event, workshop, publication, installation and radio broadcast.

What are we transmitting?
Hegemonies of standardised languages, publishing act introspection, ultraterritorality and telecommunications, conversations on food, economies and alternative communities of the Web, participatory narratives, diffractive methodologies, hybrid reality gaming … These seem all different sorts of waves but in fact they are very much connected. We invite you to eavesdrop on our signal exchanges.

"Loud and clear"
"Copy, over."

We are Kendal Beynon, Martin Foucaut, Camilo García A., Clara Gradel, Nami Kim, Euna Lee, Jacopo Lega, Federico Poni, Louisa Teichmann, and Floor van Meeuwen.

WORKSHOP PROGRAMME
* from 16:00 – 18:00 on 24.06 there will be three workshops;

Onboarding in the Virtual Garden by Kendal Beynon in UBIK (16:00 – 18:00)
In groups of 2, I will be onboarding users to three hidden spaces and, together, we will rediscover the magic of being online and a part of a creative community. Each participant will leave the workshop with an alternative webspace to cultivate and retreat to, along with some history of forgotten virtual spaces.
(No registration is needed.)
Requirements: Please bring one laptop per pair!
*Max. participants: 5 Pairs (10 people)

Frabjousish Appitizer by Euna Lee in NIKS (17:00 – 17:30)
This event is a joining ceremony in my virtual linguistic universe, the Looking-screen World. Following an origami class, reading aloud Frabjousish (the language of the Looking-screen World) words and eating together, participants will free themselves from the Standard Language and become Frabjousish.
(No registration is needed.)
No requirements. *Max. participants: 10 people

a ____ is all you need by Clara Gradel in NIKS (15:00 – 16:30)
Come and join this generative short story making workshop where you will be taken down memory lane in search of the child within you. Clara has been developing workshops to help you engage with a topic through story making. A frog could help you find housing, work remotely or regain freedom. It’s up to you to create your own narrative and write your story. All you have to do is fill in the blanks and your story comes to life.
(No registration is needed.)
No requirements. *Max. participants: 15 people

*From 15:00 – 17:00 on 25.06 there will be Rumination Session #2 hosted by attempt, a publishing project of Maria Paris and Camilo Garcia in NIKS. Join us to share, converse and diffract through our glossary project.
*If you’d like to attend then get in touch by writing to: attemptpress@gmail.com

*a note on access:
Inside WORM this event is taking place in UBIK and Slash Gallery. To enter these spaces you can use the doors on street level of Boomgaardsstraat. The pavement has ramped curbs close to the doors, the doors themselves can both be opened to make a wide entrance. There is a small lip to cross the threshold.
NIKS space (Boomgaardsstraat 69, 3012 XA Rotterdam) is accessible through the same door, then you have to walk up 2 flights of stairs.
The space is not currently accessible with a lift.
To enter UBIK you move up a small staircase and through one door. It is possible to access UBIK using a lift and wider doorway with a ramp. To use the lift you enter through a different door of WORM, it is on the same street less than 2m away. It is a large glass construction with a pink metal frame, it has 2 doors that can both be opened, and then double interior doors that can also both be opened.

Next to the entrance to Slash Gallery there are multiple toilets. There are folding chairs to sit on during the event and access to drinking water from a bar in the gallery. Neither UBIK or Slash receives natural light, in the gallery there is strip lighting in the ceiling. The spaces are usually fragrance free.
