Window Expo #Wunderbar w/ Raymond van den Bos

Solidified Impulse is the newest edition of the ongoing Window Expo series at #Wunderbar.
((((((((([ ]))))))))))) Window Expo #Wunderbar is a four window display, showcasing up-and-coming local and international artist & creatives for two months in WORM’s bar, part of ‘Wunderbar and Skills’.

This time, we bring the works of Raymond van den Bos, another talent from WORM’s community, to showcase four multimedia dioramas.

About the artworks

Expect a turn, the uncanny.
Objects placed in contexts that may or may not make sense.
Depends on how you look: Perhaps these objects were in motion once, operating as parts of a daily ritual?
Now they remain frozen, preserved inside the windows.
They demand the spectators attention, calling for a desire to notice things that otherwise go unnoticed. Upon closer look we may come to realize it is all about the associations we make.
Everything you want is everything you can never have. Is there something that will always satisfy?
Is it possible to have something that won’t disappoint?

Are we doomed to live through disappointments, only to realize we are creating them ourselves?

The dioramas reflect a desire to freeze things in motion, to freeze things so that by some miracle we may stumble across an important detail, the final part of a puzzle that may very well be infinite and cosmic. The works embody that preserving force, a desperate hope.

While you sip your drink at #Wunderbar, it’s time to wonder: Are we making the most of our time that’s left?

OPENING from 18:00 – 23:00 on the 18th of January 2024
For the opening, Raymond has invited some friends to dj, share their music while we explore his works.
19:00 – 20:00 huntj
Huntj is a musician/dj based in Den Hague, experimenting with pretty much whatever he can get his hands on.

55ever is an Amsterdam based DJ experimenting with moody and melancholic soundscapes. As a DJ, he seeks to explore personal narratives through collaging music, blending ambient sounds with elements of folk, shoegaze, and dub.

dj bobo1 is a musician based in The Hague, producing and DJ’ing music with uptempo and downtempo beats inspired by nature and organic sounds that ignite the dance floor.

About the artist
Raymond van den Bos (born 2003.) is a Rotterdam local, studying fine arts at the Royal Academy of Arts in the Hague.
His practice is focused on studying the power of association and mechanics/motions in human behavior, both implicit and explicit. He is particularly interested in the spiritual value and presence that the medium can hold in its becoming.
His artworks are imbued with hints of playful esotericism. Sometimes gory, sometimes goofy or a combination of the both (amongst other things), his works reflect a commitment to using art as a means of sense-making in an absurd and morally incongruous world.
