Unheard Records presents GHOST SOUND

Stunning mix of AV and live performance
Concert - Thu 18 November 2021
WORM Rotterdam
WORM Central Station
Doors → 19:15
Start → 21:00
End → 00:00

Unheard Records explore the subject of "귀신 소리" – "Gwishin-Sori". The direct translation is "ghost sound". The term is taken from a story from 1860, about the first gramophone that arrived in Korea and how it was called a "ghost sound machine". Unheard look to tap into people’s desire to "know the unknowable" and hear its interpretations.

The event will be streamed live from WORM, into the night, but there are limited seats available.

In the continuous search of the new normal, we tap into areas of boundless imagination, experimentation and people’s inclination to link the unknowable, unthinkable and hence, invite the spirits of unheard. As an international collective and an imprint of femme/POC/indigenous/non-binary artists since 2015, Unheard Records explored and researched ways to connect and collaborate with our fellow grassroots organizations around the globe as part of the biennial compilation project in 2021. In a hybrid form of onsite performances, exhibition and online streaming watching, we link the experimental sound scenes of Seoul, Rotterdam and Tulsa, OK. From vernacular audio visual screening in cyberspace, gentle quivers of voices, to vast noise and ambience of soundscapes, we invite you to a playground of exchange and summoning of the Ghost Sounds that haunts and immerse us.

Unheard Records started out as a small artist initiative in LA around 2015, focussing on genre-fluid, experimental music and arts; especially those coming from femme, poc and non-binary people. Starting in California by hosting small gallery shows, screening and release events , Unheard’s practice became more international over the years, focusing on curating compilations, digital releases and a podcast series called Ghost Frequency. Now, Unheard are a network of around 30 international artists from Asia, North America, and Europe.
