Mariano Melo, aka Marian Sarine, is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist based in São Paulo : his primary focus is percussion and drums. Marian is best known as the drummer in the brilliant trio DEAFKIDS. In 2020, under the moniker of ‘Sarine’, he released ‘Raízes Aéreas’, "a psychedelic excursion through percussive organ jams", inspired by African synth/organ masters such as Mammane Sani, Abdou El-Omari, Hama, as well as by the explorations on traditional ragas by Charanjit Singh on his ‘Ten Ragas To a Disco Beat’. Live the set is "way more electronic", due to Sarine’s use of drum machine and synth patches.
Darkwave / psychedelic New Wave coloured "buiten de lijntjes." A Gothicke New Gold Dream? Maybe… this is an intriguing artist.
