PERIOD
expo & zine launch
Come join us to celebrate the culmination of Sekai Makoni’s artist residency at WORM. Period was a community based research project for Black people who menstruate. The participants met monthly over 6 months learning from each other and invited alternative health practitioners about periods, pain, health and wellbeing and the particular issues that can affect our bodies.
This event is open to all races and genders and is a chance for us to share our learnings on World Menstrual Hygiene Day. We are launching our zine that captures all that we explored, you can listen to our Period radio show, see the photography created by Meike and CyAnn, play some of our interactive games, and drink a period inspired cocktail! It’s going to be a fun celebration and a chance to learn, so come and bring that person in your life that you wish knew more about periods!
As the Period residency was a community-based project for Black people who menstruate and the event marks World Menstrual Hygiene Day we want to support local menstruating people in Rotterdam who might not be able to easily afford menstrual products. Please bring along menstrual hygiene products e.g. tampons or pads that you would like to donate (obviously unopened packets) and we can donate them following the event.
Our zine will be distributed for free at the event!
