O. Lab: Asshole Monologue ontmantelt de cisgender-blanke-heteropatriarchale structuur door te putten uit een muzikale woordenschat die verschillende tradities omspant. Met als focus de kwetsbaarheid en kracht van de stem als instrument en genderaanduiding.

Anthony Hüseyin: “In mijn muziek en kunst combineer ik het persoonlijke en politieke om zaken als het geheugen, de identiteit, de gemeenschap, het collectieve onderbewuste en het lichaam te verkennen. Het publiek wordt uitgenodigd om actief deel te nemen terwijl ik queer vertellingen, die te maken hebben met mijzelf en met mijn communities, vorm kan geven als radicale alternatieven voor de geaccepteerde en gevestigde versies van de geschiedenis.”

De kraamkamer van muziektheater van morgen. Een kijkje in de repetitieruimtes van theatermakers is normaal voorbehouden aan een select gezelschap. O. Lab zet de deuren open! Makers presenteren works-in-progress en laten prototypes zien van voorstellingen. Bezoekers kunnen hun waardevolle mening hierover delen met de kunstenaars. O. Lab in WORM is één grote creative space en jij zit op de eerste rij van het maakproces.

Asshole Monologue dismantles the cisgender-white-heteropatriarchal structure by drawing on a musical vocabulary spanning several traditions. With the focus on the vulnerability and power of the voice as an instrument and gender.

Anthony Hüseyin: “In my music and art I combine the personal and the political to explore things like memory, identity, community, the collective subconscious and the body. The public is invited to participate actively as I shape queer narratives that relate to myself and my communities as radical alternatives to the accepted and established versions of history.”

O. Lab is the nursery for tomorrow’s musical theatre. A look into the rehearsal rooms of theatre makers is normally reserved for a select group. O. Lab opens these doors! Makers present works-in-progress and show prototypes of performances. Visitors can share their own opinions with the artists. O. Lab in WORM is one big creative space and you sit in the front row of the creative process.
