“La Lumitérale” by Laurie-Anne Jaubert (BE)

WORM is showcasing Laurie-Anne Jaubert, a Belgian hybrid artist, during a two week residency in our UBIK performance space, where the artist will explore the way in which an installation can become a performance. The initial installation consists of an assembly of transparent fabric, projecting generative 3D-animations based on sound, and vice versa. The overall experience takes 20 minutes and uses visual and sound fables.

The performance will be open to the audience during the following days:

Accompanied by the artist and her floating luminous creatures, La Lumitérale is an abstract, imaginary fable. An intimate visual and sound journey on the edge of the visible, the tangible and the virtual. It’s an invitation to contemplate and reconnect with our imaginations.

About the artist:
Laurie-Anne Jaubert is an artist in residence at WORM from April 24th to May 8th. Her practice emerges from questioning the human condition in its great diversity, which she approaches from the angle of identity, be it individual or collective. Her research questions the quality of our relationship with technology through the lens of digital media. Central questions in her practice are how technology alters our relationship to reality and how it shapes our social relationships.

Statement from the artist:
My productions are like breaches, preliminary interstices to this completion where semantic definitions of ‘real’ and ‘virtual’ become confused and contaminated.
Through several recent researches, In contrast to the hyper-detailed images on high-definition screens that overwhelm us and ultimately disconnect us from reality, I work with vaporous, evanescent, blurred 3D images. I create installations often consisting of projections, visual and sound, 3D animation and programming. I propose experiences, moments that tend to catch the visitor’s attention and accompany him into a universe in which everything is not entirely decipherable which leaves the visitor free to interpret.

The performance is open to all audiences, children will need to be supervised by an adult so as not to disrupt the experience of others.
