"Hushed Worlds, Rising Hums" Sam Janssen Exhibition Day2

Mixed media installation
Art & expo - Sat 11 January 2025
WORM Rotterdam
Start → 15:00
End → 19:00

WORM is framing the first exhibition of the year in S/ash Gallery with a solo exhibition of Sam Janssen.
We are introducing "Hushed Worlds, Rising Hums".

A time before we were seen,
a time before we were seeing,
learning and deep learning, a
time before the world wasn’t at
our fingertips anymore..

Sam Janssen is an active member of Rotterdam’s art scene, exploring sculptures and interactive mixed media works. His work emerges from an exploration of the digital realm—a space that has become our primary reality, demanding our active engagement. Through the transformation of this digital landscape into sculptures and installations, he creates gateways to a cybernetic reality. These objects serve as portals, blurring the boundaries between our physical and digital worlds.

He is inviting us to question and be confronted with the role technology plays in shaping our lives. At the same time, by humanising cameras as an interactive creature, we can find the vulnerability of these objects. Janssen also uses a storytelling form, focusing on how we are seen and we see the machines, he is finding the sensitivity of technology and looking for the blind spots that raise questions about our relations to them.

You can find more information about Sam Janssen’s work on his IG and website.

Possible with the support of CBK Rotterdam which played a big part in funding works of Sam Janssen.

The S/ash Gallery is wheelchair accessible.
The exhibition will be on view January 10-12, 16-19 and 23-25 between 15:00-19:00.
