Artistic solidarity meeting by Ana Bravo Pérez

Embroidering For Our Sisters is a minga by artist and filmmaker Ana Bravo Pérez in collaboration with fashion designer Johana Molina, curator Joram Kraaijeveld and women from the Colombian diaspora in the Netherlands. Artists, designers, friends and others supporters are invited to work collectively on the embroidery of textile works to honour female social leaders who have lost their lives in the frontline of the climate crisis.

A minga is a solidarity meeting of friends, allies and neighbours to do some work together, after which they share a meal offered by the beneficiaries. Relating to this way of organizing social meetings, Embroidering For Our Sisters is an artistic gathering meant to offer a communal setting to work and connect together committed to give a homage to the women that have been defending nature. During the meeting the participants will be embroidering different pieces of cloth to support this cause.

The minga has space for up to 12 participants. If you are interested in participating, please write a short motivation to embroideringforoursisters@proton.me.

Embroidering For Our Sisters is part of a project that leads up to an analogue film installation as a decolonial antimonument that will be installed at Casco Art Institute – Working for the Commons in the summer of 2023.

Embroidering For Our Sisters is made possible by Stichting Stokroos and WORM.
