Cinema Colombiano – 10th anniversary

One of our all-time favourite festivals is back – and it’s hitting double digits! Expect the usual delicious mix of underground Colombian cinema, banging music, and (you guessed it) the best empanadas in town.

Since 2015 Cinema Colombiano has been sharing alternative perspectives on Colombia, woven through time, flavors, communities, and artistic expressions. The audience have enjoyed film, music, performance, video installations, gastronomy and visual arts: first in WORM Rotterdam, and since 2021 also in Filmhuis Cavia in Amsterdam.

This year, the entire celebration of the festival Cinema Colombiano will take three days. For the first time they’ll open the event in Hotel Maria Kapel in Hoorn, continuing in Filmhuis Cavia in Amsterdam, and finally closing down in the place where it all began in 2015: WORM Rotterdam.

In WORM you can enjoy the following contemporary films from Colombia (ps. all films have English subtitles):

FILMS
Adiós al Amigo: a rare Colombian western, from the director of Pariente (shown at CC2017).
Yo Vi Tres Luces Negras: a mystical story set in the Pacific jungle
La Bonga: the former inhabitants of La Bonga return to the Caribbean village they were forced to leave two decades ago

MUSIC & CLUB
In the evening, Colombian artist La Ruka will start the closing festivities at 22:00 with a live show, blending folklore, hip hop and salsa choke. Afterwards five DJ’s take over in a club night organised together with El Javier_B who presents CREMA on Operator & Radio WORM. We will dance on sounds from cumbia to perreo!
