Almeida & Bastien “Diálogos e Sombras” (Dialogues and Shadows)

“Diálogos e Sombras” is a sound performance by Rotterdam based musicians Gonçalo Almeida and Pierre Bastien. A duet of double bass and trumpet interacts with several sound art objects, creating a metamorphosis between the acoustic instruments and the various mechanical devices.

Beside their own sound identity, these sound assemblages will have a visual impact strengthened by the contrast of light and shadow. A concert performance will activate the mechanical sound installations, which will continue to play in situ, before a second and final concert performance.

“Diálogos e Sombras” is een geluidsperformance van de Rotterdamse muzikanten Gonçalo Almeida en Pierre Bastien. Een duet van contrabas en trompet interageert met verschillende geluidskunstobjecten, waardoor een metamorfose ontstaat tussen de akoestische instrumenten en de verschillende mechanische apparaten.

Naast hun eigen identiteiten zullen deze klankassemblages een visuele impact hebben, versterkt door het contrast van licht en schaduw. De gig activeert de mechanische geluidsinstallaties, die in situ blijven te spelen, voor een tweede en laatste concertuitvoering.
