Fem Fest 2025

It was a powerful year for women’s rights in 1975 Rotterdam. Now, in 2025, all feminists in our city can look back 50 years and remember the United Nation’s very first International Women’s Year. That year Rotterdam also witnessed the establishment of Vrouwenhuis, Vrouwenrechtswinkel and Vrouwentelefoon (Women’s House, Women’s Legal Consultancy and Women’s Helpline) and there will be “Vrouwen van Rotterdam” celebrations happening the entire year of 2025 to mark this occasion!

In March 2025, WORM joins these celebrations with Fem Fest, while recognizing  that women, girls and non-binary people everywhere are caught in cycles of violence. Sexism interacts with racial discrimination, socio-economic inequality, ableism, and displacement. This sets a complex space for celebrating feminism’s triumphs. Fem Fest 2025 has chosen the social focus of gender-based violence as an offering to reflect on where we are now:  the steps we’ve made, and the steps still in motion, with our title: Step Up!

This focus is strongest in Reflect, Regenerate which will be a performance and discussion event to listen for your questions, your stories, your perspectives. Everyone is invited to listen, think, and speak and will be guided by experienced facilitators. The  musical performance this evening will resonate with our social focus. We want to bring together people who may not usually attend WORM events and our WORM locals too, the best discussion comes with mutliple perspectives.

Between celebration, remembrance, and action, Fem Fest 2025 brings you music, reflection, a film evening, popular workshops, community gatherings and a party. All acts, special guests, performances and workshop sessions will be announced soon!
