Willem Pijper Centenary: FGA

FGA (Fucking Good Art) is a curiosity-driven travelling magazine, published mainly on paper and partly online. Its starting point has often been the editors’ investigation into the humus of local artistic communities – with a focus on self-organisation, and dialogical in approach. Recently they also worked on a podcast series at Radio WORM and Rotterdam Cultural Histories, entitled: Shelter for daydreams.

For the Willem Pijper celebration, FGA works closely together with Christine Cornwell in the preparation for a podcast, printed matter and a live piece. Through a joint workshop and recording sessions makers, musicians and friends go into a selection of letters Pijper wrote just after the bombing of Rotterdam, and in which he lost his home. In an improvisation of close reading, conversation and collaborative translating, stories emerge about the messy vulnerable microcosms of human relations, spaces, stuff and memories, on which artistic practice grows
