News: 27-6-2018 WORM Sound Studios Reopening Party!

We asked Lukas Simonis about the reopening party for WORM Sound Studios on 3rd July 2018. (English is below)

(geiiritteerd) “Wat willen jullie daarmee bereiken…

Ouwe troep?

So: a reopening of the WORM studio, what do you want to achieve with this?

(Irritated) “What do you want to achieve with this…?” What do you mean?

Well, the WORM studio has been open since 2005? How many musicians and sound artists have not worked since then?

Loads. But that’s not our point …

What is your point then?

At the beginning of last year virtually the entire ‘old’ WORM studio moved to Den Bosch. And we started building the old studio with new content. That’s gone pretty well. Now we have two studios available with loads of special old junk.

Old junk? Are you talking about your own stuff? It seems that there is a whole arsenal of vintage synths, effects and rhythm machines in one studio, and the small studio has been converted into a pre-synth modular lab…

Is this a question or a publicity scam? Of course I mean something like ‘unheard of rare electronic vintage equipment’ when I say old junk.

Why should musicians, producers and sound artists use the WORM studio?

Why should they? They can stay well away if you ask me. We have much too fun working in the studio. It is a kind of playground, suitable for all kinds of artistic processes. From collecting sounds to composing all kinds of music to making radio pieces and everything in between and beyond. [Pauses]. Maybe I was a little too enthusiastic just then. It’s better to stay at home good people, you can probably do loads more with your Ableton sampling.

This is not a question, but I’ll say it anyway; the two WORM studios are available for anyone who is professional enough to handle the equipment. WORM asks a small amount for studio use, and a little bit more for commercial or subsidised projects It is also possible to take out a subscription, on the one hand to help the studio survive, plus you get the advantage of reduced rate studio time (among other things).

Well, this is not an answer back, but I will say it anyway; On Tuesday, July 3, we are having an informal opening, everyone is welcome, we will give speeches for hours and in between we will be able to enjoy the electronic squeaks and blurts from people like Dennis Verschoor, Anne Wellmer, Rienier van Houdt (on the Optigan!) and Joker Nies. And we’ll bring some bottles of cheap, gut-rotting wine that you can neck for free. No reason not to come then!
