Trixa Arnold and Ilja Komarov bring musical theatre projects to the stage since 2007. Their works are characterised by an explicitly accessible as well as a poetical approach to socially relevant topics. Even heavy subject matter comes across unpretentiously in their works. They work from the conviction that the political also manifests itself in everyday life and actions. Currently, they work with oral traditions and memories, which they collect, condense and stage into specific themes. Music is an important component of all their productions.
During this workshop-gathering, we invite you to explore on how working conditions and the way we love are intertwined in a rapidly changing presence, but also dig into visions, utopias and dystopias and invent strategies for better survival. After reading experiences that we have previously collected during workshops in Zurich and Manchester / UK, you will write your own texts which we then share anonymously. The collected texts will be interwoven into a text collage, that will become part of a musical performance. The premiere will take place on the 22nd of February 2025 at the Fabriktheater of the Rote Fabrik in Zurich.
LOVEWORK is a long-term performative project by Trixa Arnold & Ilja Komarov that explores the relationship between love life and the world of work. We invite a broad public to exchange experiences and thoughts on this topic from different perspectives. Almost all people love and are loved – in the family, in friendships, in communities or in romantic relationships.
Most people also have to or want to work.
We move fluidly between two spheres, which take up more or less space in our life. In both spheres, we have expectations; follow rules and comply with circumstances. This can lead to tensions and contradictions. However, the intertwining of the two spheres can also unleash unexpected forces and inspire us, so that we can love more creatively or work more caringly.
