In our S/ash Gallery three artists and colleagues from #Wunderbar are going to show their work in their group expo When the world sleeps. Their title is a twofold reference: It highlights the hidden processes of memory, imagination and synthesis forming the act of creation, but also the pressing need for shared action and humanity against Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people. "When the world sleeps" offers the public a glimpse into the artists’ communal world of airbrushed forms, vermin and papier-mâché characters. The exhibition centers on illustrative work, showcasing how a variety of paper-based creations can coexist in a space together.

Apart from presenting their own illustrative work, artists Saddy, Nina and Anto will also exhibit a collaborative piece in solidarity with Palestine.

The artists:
Nina: is a Rotterdam based illustrator, graphic designer and visual artist. Her practice is a mix of colourful analogue and digital illustrations, posters, installations, zines and collaborative drawings. She is currently obsessed with drawing worms and other “vermin”, which you can have the option to see in her work exhibited during Kunstavond.

Anto: is a Portuguese multidisciplinary artist, whose works reflect his attempts at deciphering and simplifying the world around him. By capturing the present through creation and trying to solve questions that have no concrete answer, he progresses as an artist, no matter the form. Through every trial and error he learns how to better exist in this simple but often paradoxical reality.

Saddy: is a Rotterdam based illustrator who creates autobiographical comics. Her work explores the intersection of the everyday and the mystical, using vivid illustrations and heartfelt narratives to reveal deeper layers of existence. Through their practice, they invite readers to find the sacred in the ordinary.
They describe themself as self reliant, self published and self destructive.

Every first Friday of the month, this art quarter transforms into the epicenter of innovative art in Rotterdam. Within one block, you’ll find four art institutions that push boundaries and bring new ideas to life. V2, WORM , MAMA and Kunstinstituut Melly open their doors for free between 6 and 9 pm with exhibitions, installations, performances, talks, music, and more. This is where the new generation of artists and visitors comes together. See you on the first Friday of the month!
