Concert - Wed 6 November 2024
WORM Rotterdam
Doors → 20:00
Start → 20:30
End → 23:30

Another VHVR with lots of kapotte muziek, and not only by Kapotte Muziek but also illness given by Illness givers and landscapes and other mistakes unfolding by a Belarusian accordian virtuoso. So tribal madness, ambient analog no-tekno and cold ‘n dry weird dutchness will meet. Put on your blue suede chairs.

Yegor Zabelov
Yegor Zabelov is a very unique Belarusian accordion player. He is currently based in Gdansk in Poland. Zabelov devotes his work to exploring the possibilities of the instrument in which he specializes, often reaching its limits. In his hands, the accordion becomes a tool for creating mystical experiences, and performances take the form of a musical ritual. Over the past few years, Zabelov has focused on his solo career. He is a frequent guest of European festivals.
"Zabelov finds a mindmap between traditional accordion playing and post-rave, beatless soundscapes. His music is a testament to the power of the imagination. No-one would imagine that making Aphex Twin-like ambient noises on an accordion was possible." – Louder Than War

Ak’chamel The Giver of Illness
They have been known by many names: The Givers of Illness; The Bandylegged Riders of the Ill-Promised Sun, etc… Honed and expanded through their travels, Ak’chamel’s singular sound comprising desert scorched psychedelia, post-apocalyptic shamanism, and bizarre ritual folk is as unique as the physical theater of their otherworldly live performances. Authors of around fifteen cassettes, two vinyls on Akuphone Records and several cryptic VHS videos, they have been active for over a decade and will spread their plague upon Europe for their second time.

Kapotte Muziek
Kapotte Muziek is the musical improvisation project of Frans de Waard, Peter Duimelinks and Roel Meelkop. Active since 1984, it is one of the most internationally visible improvisation and experimental projects hailing from the Netherlands. The group began as the solo noise music project of Frans de Waard, who published more than fifty cassettes and several LPs using this name. Duimelinks joined to make it a duo for Kapotte Muziek’s first US tour, then Roel Meelkop was added later. The trio toured the US once, playing as both Kapotte Muziek and as Goem, their techno music alter ego. Currently, all Kapotte Muziek music is recorded live by the trio, while de Waard’s solo work is published using a variety of aliases, such as Quest, Shifts, Modelbau and Freiband. The one thing that has been a constant factor for Kapotte Muziek is the recycling of sound – in concert, by using junk from the streets and other found objects and sounds, and in the studio, through the continuous re-use of sounds.
