Step into a surreal circus of bureaucracy as artist Maja Simišić returns with “Visa Reveal Party 2” – a one-night immersive performance at UBIK, WORM Rotterdam.
Blending cabaret, contemporary circus, and performance art, this powerful event turns the anxiety of visa renewal into a shared spectacle. From magical illusions and clown makeovers to aerial silk and sound experiments, the night builds to a dramatic live reading of the IND’s decision on Maja’s Dutch residency. Witness art that confronts the politics of migration with humor, heartbreak, or celebration.
“Visa Reveal Party 2” by Maja Simišić is an absurd, touching, and satirical journey into the bureaucratic circus of migration. With her signature mix of humor and depth, the Balkan multimedia artist transforms her Dutch visa renewal saga into a night of immersive performance, aerial acts, interactive installations, and collective catharsis. Rooted in identity politics and shaped by her experience as an Eastern European woman in the West, Maja dismantles power structures with wit and imagination.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS of the night:
Maja Simišić is a transdisciplinary artist whose work transforms everyday struggles into powerful, often humorous acts of resistance. Drawing from her experience as a Balkan woman navigating Western society, she explores the tensions between identity, gender, class, and cultural perception. Her practice dissects the absurdities of modern bureaucracy and societal expectations, using satire, performance, and participation to expose the invisible forces that shape our lives. With a voice that is both sharp and playful, Maja invites audiences to question the systems around them and to imagine new ways of being, together.
Simone Schuffelen is a performer and visual artist, made in Zuid-Limburg. NL and based in Rotterdam. She describes herself as a strawberry picker, court jester, full-time human and lover. With a generous dose of humor, Simone presents her artistic reflections on current events and societal structures through her performances and interventions. [read loud] Simone thinks ART IS STUPID! [read 2x >> speed – with radio voice effect ] In 2021, Schuffelen won the Hermine van Bers Beeldende Kunstprijs in Maastricht. Her work has been performed and exhibited at Paradiso Amsterdam, Wildeburg, Bonnefanten Museum Maastricht, SCHUNCK in Heerlen, and now once again in the cultural epicentrum WORM Rotterdam!
Carla Menas is a visual and performative artist from Cyprus and Lebanon focusing primarily on participatory meetings and sculptures void of ‘design’. Using mostly found objects, food and repurposed materials, the goal is to exude humor in the deeply personal and/or formal. Ultimately the underlying mission is to tackle their personal battles by aggravating aspects of exoticism, western norms and capitalistic movements that destroy the opulence of minorities as well as their experiences.
Meet the eclectic make-up duo of Tovernicht and Toverteef, called the Tovertrutten. We are ready to clown up your look, expect silliness, stupidity, red noses and a whole lot more. From a subtle clownesque reference, to a full clown-white beat depending on your comfort-level. If you are interested in getting some make-up done, don’t hesitate to say hi!
Djatá Bart-Plange (1993, Meijel, NL(NL-GH)) is founder, CEO, and staff of NDNMK Solutions – a Rotterdam-based, artist-run company that specialises in ideology management and whiteness-related consultancy. We provide sound-focussed memetic mind castles that serve as spaces of reflection, confusion, digression, and possibly ascension.
Our projects are often narrative-driven and transdisciplinary – digital ecologies/structures where sound, short story, performance, image and point&click mutate/pollinate into exportable, likable, sharable, immersive pathworkings related to politics of knowledge, seductions of privilege, rituals of innocence, and (new age) marketing strategies.
During Visa Reveal Party 2 he will present ★☆Autọ-tuņe_KarāOķe karaoke with autotune, etc.

Sinan Altay knows his way with Cardistry. It is different from card magic, but it is very magical. Often, people throughout time describe it as "card flourishing". The term cardistry is a mix of card and artistry, so we try to create art. It’s been a big part of Sinan’s life for almost 10 years and he loves to show what the possibilities are with just a deck of cards!
