Tot Onyx
To celebrate the Kick Off for Camera Japan, WORM invites the legendary Tot Onyx, the solo alias of Tommi Tokyo, a Tokyo-born, Berlin-based sound artist and performer. Tommi, known for her innovative use of metal objects and her body, first gained acclaim as part of the experimental duo group A. The duo’s boundary-pushing performances, blending live painting, noise, and poetry, captivated audiences worldwide.
Tommi’s solo work continues to defy expectations, combining her graphic design and photography background with multimedia collaborations. Her notable projects include composing for the theatre piece Das Beuys and frequent collaborations with Butoh dancer Yuko Kaseki, culminating in the Universal Metabolism exhibition at Berlin Atonal 2023. Tommi also scored numbers of video productions including Juri Padel’s feature film JUNK SPACE BERLIN and a Tokyo-based fashion label KIDLL’s SS23 collection.
Following her debut album Senno I, praised as "an illusory marvel" by Boomkat, Tommi’s second album, Satire of Desire, is out now on Brussels’ Antibody label. Don’t miss this chance to experience Tot Onyx’s unique blend of sound and performance art live at WORM.
