Rotterdam Unlimited: Digital Challenge

Rotterdam Unlimited is one of the largest, and most exuberant and diverse of free street festivals in the Netherlands: its core inclusivity is captured in the tagline: "urban everybody." Taking place annually over five days at the end of July, Rotterdam Unlimited consists of several programmes: with in- and outdoor stages hosting live concerts, soundsystems, the iconic SummerCarnival parade, Rueda de Casino, various pre- and afterparties and the famous festival market, called MERCADO. Rotterdam Unlimited reflects the incredible wealth of the city’s music scene, with live electronics, soca, hiphop, soul, R&N drum n’ bass and jungle and hybrids of all that reflect new generations of music fans.

Digital Challenge
During the lockdown we were surprised that many artists waited for the pandemic to pass rather than thinking of creative ways to reach out to their fanbases. We see that the digital domain will only grow, so we say: use it! Rotterdam Unlimited asked for young artists to come up with a project plan, and we chose three, giving a stipend of 10,000 each to develop their projects. At Digital Challenge we will reveal how these three winners used their prizes to deliver a digital or hybrid clip. The three winning products will be screened at WORM. Witness how tomorrow’s artists connect with their fan base with digital means, even in times of lockdown.
