Join us for an evening that celebrates the launch of Playing Our Cards Right, a publication by James Parnell, a Hague-based community researcher and facilitator.
Playing Our Cards Right: How Games Can Transform the Cultural Sector uses game design as a framework to explore work culture within institutional art spaces. It investigates how the structure of games can be used to test ideas, experiment, and build community in workspaces. Playing Our Cards Right is a love letter to the wisdom of games, and an invitation to reflect honestly on what we might need to sustainably work together.
James’ launch will be followed by the Unconference, an open, participative discussion about play during which James’ will be joined by Marijke Achterberg (neurobiology of social play), Nathanja van den Heuvel (philosophy of play), Chantal van Kempen (experience design), Sophie Allerding (interdisciplinary artist and game designer), and members of the audience.
This event is part of a series of happenings that kick-start WORM as Ultimate Playground—a new phase towards a deeper and broader sense of what we make and do, stronger and more meaningful connections with people, and both a broadening and anchoring of our core values. Come join us in imagining otherwise!
Ticket includes a copy of the publication.
