We’re thrilled to announce the opening of RENARRATIVE! Join us in this moment of celebration and get to know the artists.
We’ll have a special welcome word and tour by curator Magali Elali and a music performance by Ranie Ribeiro. Free for all, bring your friends, spread the word!
Which stories have been lost over time, and how can we reimagine them to shape the future? RENARRATIVE is a multidisciplinary exhibition that explores the
complexities of history through Critical Fabulation, a method developed by American scholar Saidiya Hartman. By blending historical research, critical theory, and
storytelling, this approach fills the gaps in the historical record and revives voices erased from the archives. The artists embrace this methodology to reinterpret the past and offer new perspectives on the present and future.
RENARRATIVE highlights overlooked narratives through video, painting, and installation. Six artists—Lou Cocody-Valentino, Randa Maroufi, Badi Rezzak, Kevin Osepa, Imge Özbilge, and Joseph Thabang Palframan—draw from personal memories, experiences, and cultural identities to bring hidden stories to light.
More information about the artists can be found here.
Ranie Ribeiro’s artistic journey has taken on new dimensions and disciplines. Formerly known by his DJ moniker D-Ribeiro, Ranie Ribeiro is solidifying himself as a harpist.
Join us on March 26th for an in-depth discussion and panel talk on the accessibility of the art world for artists of color. Tickets here.
Curated by Magali Elali (The Constant Now), the exhibition is supported by CultuurCentrum Brugge and Club Magie. It was previously presented at Hallen Belfort in Brugge. Spatial design by Olivier Goethals. Graphic design by KEEN.
The Constant Now is a nonprofit arts organization founded in 2021 by curator and art historian Magali Elali to support and promote visual artists of color in Belgium. We are dedicated to inclusivity and addressing the underrepresentation of POC artists by creating visibility through exhibitions, talks, and mentoring. Our goal is to cultivate sustained career development while shifting perspectives within institutions. Operating nomadically, we partner with institutions across Belgium and collaborate internationally to reshape the artistic landscape and create a more inclusive environment.
