O. x WORM – O. Lab: Internet the Musical
In WORM wordt zeven dagen lang gewerkt door de makers van morgen. En, de deuren van de werkplaats staan wagenwijd open. Loop naar binnen en laat je verbeelding de vrije loop. Want: niets is kant en klaar. Alles is een work in progress. O. Lab is één grote creative space waar makers actuele onderwerpen oppakken en nieuw werkt ontstaat. Of mislukt, dat kan én mag ook in een lab. Tijdens O. Lab delen makers hun ideeën en bevindingen als eerste met jou. Zit op de eerste rij van het maakproces!

Tomorrow’s makers will work in WORM for seven days and the doors of the workshop will be wide open. Go inside and give free rein to your imagination. After all, nothing is ready-made; everything is a work in progress. O. Lab is a large creative space where makers can focus on current topics and new work is created. Or not, as the case may be, which is equally possible and acceptable in a lab. As long as O. Lab is operational, you will be the first to share the ideas and findings of the makers. Take a seat on the front row and watch the unfolding of the creation process!

Internet the Musical: een voorstelling over verbinding in tijden van isolatie en een hommage aan het internet. De musical werd geschreven, ontworpen en gecomponeerd door een online gezelschap van 50 artiesten uit een 20-tal landen, in de periode waarin iedereen noodgedwongen aan huis gekluisterd zat. Het resultaat? Een bombastisch, muzikaal verhaal waarin alle makers, niet begrensd door offline beperkingen, hun dromen de vrije loop laten. Romantiek, humor, geweld, dans. Alles wat je van een musical verlangt. Tijdens O. worden verschillende onderdelen uit de musical getest, aan het publiek de vraag wat winning is en wat vraagt om een update (426).

Internet the Musical: A performance about connection in times of isolation that serves as a homage to the Internet. The musical was written, designed, and composed online by a group of 50 artists from some 20 countries during the period when everyone had to stay home. The result? A bombastic and musical narrative in which all of the makers, unhampered by offline limitations, gave their dreams free rein. Romanticism, humour, violence, dance. Everything you’d hope for when thinking of a musical. Various components of the musical will be tested during O. as the audience is asked what works and what needs an update (426)

Doorlopend filmprogramma met short movies, docu’s, videoclips en online projecten. Veel up and coming makers, online performances en lockdown-experimenten. Afgelopen jaar creëerden kunstenaars meer dan ooit, online. O. maakte een selectie van de vele gedaantes die opera online aannam én de inbox van het festival bereikten. Daarnaast doken we in de O.(peradagen) archieven om ouder, maar even actueel cross-mediaal videomateriaal te kiezen.

Continuous programme encompassing wide-ranging works from across the world in Corona times. Numerous up-and-coming makers, online performances, and lockdown experiments. Artists have created more online content than ever before last year. O. selected a sample from the many guises in which opera appeared online and that reached the festival’s inbox. In addition, we delved into the archives of O.(peradagen) to find older video material that was equally topical in a cross-media sense.
