This edition opens with the short film Pimple (original title: Borbulha), winner of Best Short at BUTFF 2026. This 4-minute Portuguese short, directed by Fernando Alle, follows a young boy whose pimple bursts, leading to a bloody disaster. Short, gnarly, and the perfect warm-up for what’s to come.

Then it’s time for the main feature: La Cosa en la Niebla (The Thing in the Fog), winner of Best Feature at BUTFF 2026. This incredibly creative single-location horror comedy proves you don’t need a big budget to build an entire universe.
Trapped in an increasingly strange space, Ismael and Daniela must face unexplained signals, absurd decisions, and a threat that seems to come from somewhere else: the Audreys, an alien presence whose invasion could put all of humanity at risk.
With a B-movie spirit, dark humor and a clear genre drive, La Cosa en la Niebla turns a single location into its own universe: a closed cockpit where the absurd, the cosmic and the human collide as the threat of the Audreys becomes inevitable. A genre film contained in form but ambitious in imagination, where two unlikely characters end up facing the fate of all humankind.

Deze editie openen we met de voorfilm Pimple (originele titel: Borbulha), winnaar van Best Short op BUTFF 2026. Deze Portugese kortfilm van 4 minuten, geregisseerd door Fernando Alle, volgt een jonge jongen wiens puistje barst — met een bloederige ramp als gevolg. Kort, confronterend en precies de juiste opwarmer voor wat volgt.

Daarna is het tijd voor de hoofdfilm: La Cosa en la Niebla (The Thing in the Fog), winnaar van Best Feature op BUTFF 2026. Deze ongelooflijk creatieve horrorkomedie speelt zich af op één enkele locatie en bewijst dat je geen grote budgetten nodig hebt om een compleet universum te bouwen.
Ismael en Daniela zitten gevangen in een steeds vreemdere ruimte en worden geconfronteerd met onverklaarbare signalen, absurde beslissingen en een dreiging die van elders lijkt te komen: de Audreys, een buitenaardse aanwezigheid wiens invasie de hele mensheid in gevaar kan brengen.
Met een echte B-film-spirit, donkere humor en een messcherpe genre-drive verandert La Cosa en la Niebla één afgesloten cockpit in een compleet eigen kosmos, waar het absurde, het kosmische en het menselijke op elkaar botsen terwijl de dreiging van de Audreys onvermijdelijk wordt. Een film die qua vorm compact is, maar in verbeeldingskracht grenzeloos — waarin twee onwaarschijnlijke hoofdpersonen uiteindelijk het lot van de hele mensheid moeten dragen.
