KEEP LIVE ART ALIVE!
DamnedACT#1| 2-4 juli 2021
WORM takes to the streets of Rotterdam, bringing together the subversive creativity of Dutch, Belgium, French and Congolese artists. Three days of conversations and interventions right at the heart of our city, keep your eye open to the unknown and unexpected.
DamnedACT is a performance lab where artists free themselves from their studio life and experiment in front of the casual passer-by. Together we research live art, the art of being alive, artificial life and all intermediate forms, in a direct dialogue with the city and our immediate surroundings.
The interventions can be found live:
Friday 2nd of July during Kunstavond XL. Starting at WORM 18h, moving through the streets.
Saturday 3rd of July 12h-16h, start at WORM, moving towards Pretorialaan
The conversations on the 3rd and 4th of July will be registered and shared with anyone who’s interested in collective thinking about the artistic potential of public spaces.
While the content of the performances is based on the current socio-political situation, the collaboration of the artists means to be futurist. We imagine a future in which most of us will be performing together on the streets unattached to institutions and governmental bodies. Focusing on actions based on human interaction and solidarity.
Meet the artists:
"One day we woke up with this image of a powerful woman, who symbolises the living arts, the power of creation. We want to show her in the streets of my hometown Brussels, in the streets of Belgium, in the streets of the world, to show that she exists. We call her Hurrah! The unknown giantess. The guard of memories and prospector of the living arts."
DamnedACT is the Rotterdam-based version of KINACT, the amazing performance festival in Kinshasa (D.R. Congo). Exchange of international and local artists and on-the-spot experiments are key elements of the festival, together with informal knowledge sharing between all ages and all life forms
