Goblin Feast: Mould Me

Goblin Feast is a three-part workshop and communal celebration of odd, mythical foods inspired by the goblin; the mischievous folklore outcast. We call on all our misbehaving castaways to explore the journey to celebration. What makes an event, a figure of power, or a feeling worth celebrating?

With a grand feast as a final exposé, our first workshop delves deep into the exploration of character, garms and substances of collective ritual. Our second workshop, playfully explores ideas of sculpture and ceremony: the unveiling of monuments, the pomp of parades, the strangeness of public statues. Together, we will create our own mythic goblin LARP-esque celebration, complete with characters and offerings: culminating in a final banquet and performative display.

Workshop 1: Character Building
We begin by making your goblin alter ego. Through playful exercises in movement, character work, and hands-on making, we guide you in developing a persona to carry through the whole series. Who is your goblin? What do they wear? What do they worship? This is the first step in building our collective ceremony: deciding who gathers, who leads, and who disrupts. These processes will create a unique cast for our final magical feast.

Workshop 2: Edible Centerpiece Making
Every ceremony needs a centerpiece. Or 5…In this workshop we explore the idea of monuments and statues as they relate to worship and celebratory moments, using food as our material. Together we will design and build otherworldly food sculptures, create edible installations, and experiment with how food can express sentiments, politics, and play. These works will become the altar pieces for our final gathering;the focus to which our characters can pray to, deconstruct, reformulate and sacrifice.

Workshop 3: The Ceremonial Feast
The culmination of our collective work. The characters we create and the food monuments we built come together in a mythical ritual: a shared ceremony that blends performance, dining, and offering. The feast will be open to an audience of humans, while our goblin clan display their deep and devoted parade of gestures, leading the procession and unveiling the goblin banquet.
