Every Thursday evening in June 2026, and the first Thursday of July, the hidden garden Eendrachtstuin transforms into Filmtuin, our beloved yearly open-air cinema. From sundown, we’ll screen a mix of arthouse films, handpicked by neighbours and WORM’s film team.
BIG FUN IN THE BIG TOWN
by Bram Van Splunteren
1986, 40 minutes, English w/ Dutch subtitles
An exploration of the music scene in New York in the late 80s where rock was reaching mainstream supremacy and hip hop was on the rise, creating a time capsule of the New York hip hop scene just before it reached the mainstream. The documentary was produced by Dutch radio broadcaster VPRO, a platform with a focus on progressive content. As a result, the documentary had great impact on the Dutch hip-hop scene.
This screening is co-curated by Jeff van Hoek, creative director of Operator Radio and Cool neighbor, and the Operator Radio crew. Jeff is active in Rotterdam’s nightlife as an events organiser and as a DJ himself.
