Filmtuin: BIG FUN IN THE BIG TOWN

Every Thursday evening in June 2026, and the first Thursday of July, the hidden garden Eendrachtstuin transforms into Filmtuin, our beloved yearly open-air cinema. From sundown, we’ll screen a mix of arthouse films, handpicked by neighbours and WORM’s film team.

An exploration of New York’s music scene in 1986, when rock dominated and hip hop was on the rise. The film captures the city’s hip hop scene just before it broke through. The documentary was produced by Dutch public broadcaster VPRO, known for its independent and progressive programming, and went on to have a lasting impact on the Dutch hip hop scene.

This screening is co-curated by Jeff van Hoek aka Jeff Solo, creative director of Operator Radio and Cool Neighbor, together with the Operator Radio crew. Jeff is active in Rotterdam’s nightlife as an events organiser and DJ. We’re delighted that director Bram van Splunteren will join us to talk about this rarely seen hip hop document, and might throw in an extra surprise!
