chess sunday @ Wunderbar with Check Mates!

Every month we host an analogue hangout where chess becomes a social activity again. No tournaments, no pressure. Just two hours around the board with a shared passion and the conversations that naturally follow.

All levels are welcome.
From beginners to 2000+ Elo. We match the tables during the hangout. Games are played as 10-minute rapid, and after each game you switch opponents so you get to play many different players.

90% of the group comes alone.
Most people return each month. Spots are usually reserved within 24 hours. Any additional places that open up are offered through the waitlist.

The hangout as a monthly ritual.
You arrive, grab a drink, put your phone on airplane mode, and after a short introduction you play as many games as you like. After two hours we clear the boards, but you’re free to stay and hang out. An analogue detox from the digital noise.
