Archive as a Space of Conflict: Pirate Bay Archive – Open day

The WORM Pirate Bay archive finally reopens to the public, inviting guests to sail through our eclectic collection of avant-garde media, zines, books, DVDs, and more. This isn’t just an archive, it’s also a hub for learning, creation, experimentation and artistic growth.

Archive as a Space of Conflict aims to re-enhance The Pirate Bay’s discourse on archiving as a cultural practice. On December 5th, 2025 — for one day only — we will explore archiving as a means of autonomously building collective heritage and challenging the mainstream cultural canon.

We welcome everyone to step inside The Pirate Bay: browse through our collection, take part in free zine-making workshops, and join a public talk on the nuances of copyright.

About the open talk
To commemorate this special day, we will host an open talk about the nuances and traps of copyright law – how it can be a double-edged sword, protecting artists while at the same time restricting spontaneous creativity. We will also explore how an (open) archive can serve as a powerful tool to navigate these challenges. With speakers Eric Schjiver, author of Copy this Book, alongside Sevgi Tan, artist and researcher.

About the zine workshop
Throughout the day a collective zine workshop will take place, hosted by Nina in collaboration with Alice from Studio GOOB. Through reprocessing and playing with the archive’s material, we will experiment around the concepts of authoriality, identity and exchange, breathing new life into the archive.
