(An)archive Workshop with Carine Zaayman

This year we learn collectively about climate (in)justice and algorithmic colonialism. Together wit François Knoetze and Amy Louise Wilson from Lo-Def Film Factory (Cape Town, SA) and Roxette Capriles and Amber Vineyard from House of Vineyard (Rotterdam NL), we explore different ways of learning and unlearning, of making and unmaking. During Lo-Def’s residency in WORM, from 22-27 september, you’re very welcome to dive in the material too!

In this workshop, Carine Zaayman will guide an interactive exploration of the anarchive, a term she uses to describe that which by its very nature escapes conventional and colonially-shaped archives. Through this exploration, participants will collectively try out creative ways of giving form to our intangible connection to the past and our worlds beyond the established methods upheld by institutions and coloniality.
Carine Zaayman is a researcher and research coordinator at the RCMC (Wereldmuseum, the Netherlands). As an artist, curator and scholar, she is committed to a radical reconsideration of colonial archives and museum collections, specifically those holding strands of Khoekhoe pasts. She works to find ways to release the hold these archives have over our imaginations when we narrate the past, as well as how we might shape futures from it.

Free entree.
Participants are asked to bring an object ( that could also be an image or a note) that for them conjures up the idea of "home".
Please reserve your spot!
