aemi presents: In The Long Now

In the long now is a new touring programme curated by aemi that places work by Irish contemporary film artists in conversation with three titles by international practitioners, all of whom are innovating new approaches to the moving image as an artform.

Featuring work by Alee Peoples, Eavan Aiken, Jeamin Cha, Sandy Kennedy, Sylvia Schedelbauer and Patrick Hough, ‘In the long now’ explores ideas relating to love, liveness, mortality and the act or technological process of seeing beyond the limits set by our physical abilities.

Following on from its world premiere at Cork International Film Festival 2021, ‘In the long now’ is travelling to a number of venues across Ireland and beyond in 2022.

When an archaeologist is sent to excavate the remains of an Iron Age bog body, he finds the unexpected. The bog body has awakened to deliver him a stark warning; he must confront the impending storm of ecological collapse or face unfathomable disaster.

In the long now is een nieuw reizend filmprogramma samengesteld door het collectief aemi dat werk van Ierse hedendaagse filmkunstenaars samenbrengt met dat van internationale filmmakers, die allen nieuwe benaderingen van het bewegende beeld als kunstvorm verkennen.

Met werk van Alee Peoples, Eavan Aiken, Jeamin Cha, Sandy Kennedy, Sylvia Schedelbauer en Patrick Hough onderzoekt ‘In the long now’ ideeën die te maken hebben met liefde, levendigheid, sterfelijkheid en het technologische proces van ‘kijken’ voorbij de grenzen van onze fysieke mogelijkheden.

Wanneer een archeoloog wordt uitgezonden om de overblijfselen van een moeraslichaam uit de IJzertijd op te graven, treft hij iets onverwachts aan.
