PR INTERNSHIP

September 2026 – February 2027 (minimum internship duration: 3 months)

WORM is looking for a PR / Marketing & Communications Intern to join our communications team. Do you love culture, storytelling and finding ways to connect people to ideas, events and communities? Are you curious about how communication works inside a cultural institution? Then this internship might be for you.

Want to learn inside one of Rotterdam’s most experimental cultural institutions? At WORM, internships are not isolated within one department. While each intern follows a dedicated learning trajectory with a supervisor and develops role-specific skills, you’ll also become part of the institution as a whole. You’ll work across departments, meet different teams and contribute to daily office life.

This means that alongside your own responsibilities, you might help welcome visitors, answer phones, join collective assignments, participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, support public moments, and spend time working together around our shared office table.

All interns follow an onboarding process at the beginning of the internship to get to know WORM, the team and our way of working.

Practical requirements:
— Applicants should live in or around Rotterdam
— A BSN number and Dutch bank account are required
— We primarily offer internships to students enrolled in educational institutions, but we also welcome self-taught makers and students from non-formal education paths
— WORM follows the CAO NPF
— Internship allowance: €375/month based on a full-time internship (38h/week), compensated proportionally to hours worked

Please note: for this internship we are specifically looking for a Dutch-speaking intern. In previous years Dutch was not required, but at this moment we aim to maintain a healthy balance between Dutch and international colleagues and interns across the organisation.

What you’ll learn:
— Communication strategy for cultural programming and hospitality
— Translating artistic ideas into accessible communication
— Working across social media, website and newsletters
— Audience engagement and community building
— Collaborating across departments inside a cultural institution

Tasks:
— Creating and publishing content for WORM channels
— Writing newsletters and promotional texts
— Learning to work with Stager (WORM’s programme management system)
— Updating website information
— Interviewing artists, organisers and collaborators
— Supporting social media planning and execution
— Documenting events through photo and short-form content where needed
— Assisting with wider PR and communication projects

What we’re looking for:
— Dutch language skills (required)
— Good writing skills in Dutch and English
— Interest in arts, culture and alternative or community-driven scenes
— Affinity with social media and storytelling
— Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent editing tools
— Curious, organised and collaborative mindset
