We’re back for round 3: Radio WORM’s XLR programme offers 12 participants under the age of 30 the chance to create a short, collaborative and experimental radio series.
XLR is a free, 13-week MDT trajectory* based on weekly Tuesday meet-ups and broadcasts at Radio WORM. You’ll develop a concept for a weekly show together with co-hosts, learn the necessary skills and get advice on technical and conceptual questions, and attend workshops and excursions. You’ll also get to know WORM inside out, and open a pathway to making your own ongoing radio series after the trajectory.
Participants must be under 30 at the time of the application deadline, and be able to join in-person at WORM for bi-weekly shows and are expected to spend an average of approx. 7 hours per week on the project (including meetings, research, live shows and other group activities.)
Apply by midnight, Sunday 23 August, via this form.
Need-to-know:
– The project runs from September 8 to December 1, 2026.
– The programme will kick off with an off-air meet-up and basic studio training.
– No prior radio experience is required, we welcome participants to share any kinds of skills with each other over the course of the project.
– Collaboration, experimentation and co-learning are core aims of the programme.
– Broadcasts happen on Tuesday afternoons, 15:00-17:00. Each group of 3 participants makes a bi-weekly show; and in the off-weeks, they can meet to plan their own shows, listen to other the groups and give feedback, or join in-person at WORM for research and guidance if they want to. Each group decides for themselves how to organise and produce their episodes.
– Details of excursions and further workshops (which may happen on weekends) will be discussed at the intro meet-up.
– Participants are asked to keep a record of the hours spent on their project.
– There is no cost for participating, all excursion costs (incl travel, within NL) and workshop costs are covered.
– NB, travel costs to/from WORM for weekly shows, meetups and other (extra/voluntary) events is not covered.
You can listen back to shows from the previous XLR groups here.
