Broom Groom / Sweeping Solo by Marit Shalem 2018
Marit Shalem is no stranger to WORM. Between 2014 and 2016, Shalem created and curated series of experimental film evenings, entitled Layers. Born in Israel, educated in Berlin and currently living in Rotterdam, Shalem’s work is related to the topic of artistic and commercial production. Layers referred to the complex relationship between individual and visual culture.
On April 12-15th 2018, Marit Shalem’s new projects – book StoryK and video installation Broom Groom / Sweeping Solo – were presented in UBIK space of WORM.
One piece inspired by the other, they reflected on the commercial disturbances we experience through digital media.
We talked to talented Ms Shalem and she would like to thank her fans:
I’m totally thankful for being able to use UBIK. It’s a great space and the WORM team was really supportive! We used the space in order to film in a ‘green screen situation’ and later for the installation.
The collaboration for this project was great. Especially with Marc Verhoeven, the musician. He was very keen to understand thoroughly where this work is going, I mean the hidden plots and the message, the artistic side of it.
Now Marit Shalem is excited to see where her project lands next.
