Terrie Ex & Jaap Blonk + Andy Moor & Anne James Chaton + Electropoëzie
A true meeting of minds as the Avantgardistic State sees two duos who specialise in improvised soundscapes meet a third, whose raucous Dutch language cabaret should put the cat amongst the sonic pigeons.
Terrie Hessels & Jaap Blonk
Jaap Blonk (born 1953 in Woerden, Holland) is a self-taught composer, performer and poet. In the late 1970s he took up saxophone and started to compose music. He soon discovered his potential as a vocal performer, reciting poetry and improvisations of his own compositions. Blonk has collaborated with many musicians and ensembles in the field of contemporary and improvised music; including a duo with The Ex’s Terrie Hessels.
Andy Moor & Anne James Chaton
Spoken word artist Anne-James Chaton and The Ex and Dogfaced Hermans guitarist, Andy Moor, have been working together for over a decade; with LPs such as ‘Le Journaliste Heretics’ and ‘Transfer’ and to their name. Expect cut ups, sound snippets and declamations over multilayered soundscapes.
Groningen is known for its crazy poets and outcasts whacking out weirdo wordlore. And Electropoëzie is the latest name in a glorious if sometimes obtuse tradition. The duo (tekst: Hans Hoeverloo and muziek: “De Ridderbaas”) have a new LP ‘Grijs’ on Leiden’s “absurdiste” label Smikkelbaard.
