Pantropical: Romperayo + Deltatron + Panda Lassow + Chris Baas + Chulengo

Live Afro-Colombian Cumbia & Global Bass

Romperayo played one of the best live shows of 2017 as part of the Pantropical series, and they’re back for their final edition before the summer break! The 4-piece band from Bogotá, Colombia with drummer extraordinaire Pedro Ojada (Los Pirañas, Chúpame El Dedo) at the helm will surely impress again. Lima-based producer/DJ Deltatron will continue the party with his irresistible blend of Digital Cumbia and other global bass. Full Line up:

Romperayo (CO | feat. Pedro Ojeda – Los Pirañas)
Romperayo is a fantastic, fast moving musical journey through Colombian tropical folklore. A fascinating, modern interpretation of the psychedelic sounds of 70s Cumbia and other tropical rhythms. The band is part of the forward-thinking Colombian music scene that re-interprets its own roots in unorthodox ways. Romperayo’s sound looks back while also pointing forward. Expect danceable musical fireworks!

Deltatron (PE | Terror Negro Records)
Paz Ferrand is Deltatron from Lima; one of the most representative artists of Peru’s current electronic dance music. He is producer, DJ and the founder of the Terror Negro records – a net label that releases the majority of mixtapes and EPs from the emerging Tropical Bass scene in Lima. In his own music, Deltatron blends Dembow, Cumbia, Reggaeton and other Bass music. His critically acclaimed latest release “Ego Trip” exemplifies this, featuring a smooth mix of various styles, next to collaborations with Dave Nada and Lao (Naafi) and others.

Panda Lassow (Roffa)
After swapping Dresden for Rotterdam in 2009, Panda Lassow became the label boss of Anus records, a Red Light Radio host, but most of all an excellent producer & (vinyl-only) DJ. Her latest 12″ release “Trora” contains high quality interpretations of Gqom and Kuduro mixed with Panda’s musical roots like techno, rave, juke/footwork.

Chulengo & Chris Baas (Roffa)
Music culture omnivores Chulengo and Chris Baas will be responsible for the earlier part of this night. Think: all sorts of pantropical rhythms and styles, and a healthy dereliction for lazy genre music and pigeonholing.

Jonathan Castro (PE) – visuals
Jonathan Castro is a talented graphic designer from Lima, Peru, who currently works at Metahaven in Amsterdam. Among other things his most recent projects include an exhibition at ‘Total Sellout’ in Berlin and a logo sting design for Boiler Room.
