Moving Stills: with Luis Macías – Day 1
In the framework of the IFFR 2019 BLACKOUT exhibition, dedicated to carrousel slide projectors, filmmaker Luis Macías (ES) will guide a hands-on workshop at WORM Filmwerkplaats on movement in the static image and the slide.
The workshop will explore the use of the slide projector as an instrument and the possibilities of the slide as a non-static image. It will show possible internal and external modifications of the projector with different (DIY) technological devices, and the multiple possibilities of alteration and manipulation of the image and the intervention of duration and time.

Luis Macias will performe at the IFFR sound//vision program on Thursday 24th in the evening and has an expanded short film in the Bright Future program on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th.
Luis Macias (Barcelona, ES) is an artist, filmmaker, image recycler and teacher specialized in Experimental cinema. Studied at Centro de Estudios Cinematohgráficos de Cataluña, CECC and graduated in Art History at Murcia University, Spain. His work in film format 8mm, super 8 and 16mm is conceived as projects on Expanded Cinema and Film Performances. His artistic concerns focus on two points: the physical work on film and film recycling and re-invention of new relations between moving images. His documentary and No-Fiction projects are designed both for projection in dark room or installation in the white cube.
