21:00 – On a le temps pour nous. Katy Léna Ndiaye, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Senegal, 2019, 67 min.
The 1987 assassination of Marxist politician Thomas Sankara prematurely ended Burkina Faso’s fledgling democracy. Rapper, poet and activist Smockey keeps the spirit alive, rapping social commentary, political commitment and solidarity with the oppressed.
With DJ Austin-J (Jollove)
Jollove’s mission is to show the richness – and vast scale – of contemporary African popular music. A fresh perspective miles away from the traditional “curated” view. A special focus on music from Southern and East Africa and the diaspora. Expect every style, from Madagascan takes on #Ndombolo, or Tanzanian #BongoFlava, to the latest in French and UK #Afrobeat.
