Subbacultcha x Pantropical: FAKA (sa) + DODOMUNDO (lt)

Non-binary visions and gqom from Jo-Burg

New concepts are always welcome in The Avantgardistic State. And here, we are delighted to bring an intriguing night of non-binary visions and gqom and the concept of “nivea-ness” all the way from Johannesburg.

PLEASE NOTE! Tickets for this event are 5 euros on the door but free for Subbacultcha members (please bring your passes!)

Subbacultcha and Pantropical join forces for an intriguing showcase of FAKA, all the way from Johannesburg.
To be held in The Performance Bar, this Subbacultcha x Pantropical programme will merge with The Performance Bar’s “Home Coming” event starting at 9 PM.

✹ FAKA (sa | non worldwide)
The Johannesburg duo Fela Gucci and Desire Marea are known under the collective moniker of FAKA; a multi-media project mixing music, fashion, photography, video and writing. Their work looks to promote positive change in South Africa; all-the-while defending black queer culture through artistic experiment. FAKA’s music involves laying down spoken word and open-ended vocalisations onto ambient scores, found sounds or field recordings over a torrent of drums. In terms of sound, they also explore an abstract take on Gqom – the bass-heavy South African genre originating in Durban, made by for example Mafia Boys and DJ Lag. Live, they are a riotous melange of sound and vision.

✹ DODOMUNDO (lt | bar none / unthinkable)
Fresh from Lithuania we have DJ Dodomundo. She made her mark in the club circuit of Vilnius as part of the Unthinkable collective. Dodomundo is known for her abrasive yet warm DJ sets; merging various genres, scenes and sounds, it is going to be something good, Bar None.
