Tijdens de harde lockdown kregen muzikanten plots, misschien tegen wil en dank, de ruimte en kans om zich een te focussen op het solo werk. Hoewel de vrije improvisatie overwegend een groepsgebeuren is vanwege de verschillende inputs en de de gezamenlijke creatie, won solo aan kracht.

Zowel Brits saxofonist COLIN WEBSTER met zijn vs AMP solo plaat (op Raw Tonk Records) en DIRK SERRIES met de eerste worp in een reeks van 7 volumes gewijd aan de eigenzinnige Höfner archtop gitaren (op A New Wave Of Jazz) werden afgelopen jaar uitgebracht. Nu bundelen ze de krachten om deze ook live onder de aandacht te brengen met een drietal ‘double bill’ concertjes in de Benelux..

During the hard lockdown, many musicians suddenly (maybe against their will), were given the space and opportunity to focus on their solo work. Although free improvisation is predominantly a group event (due to the different inputs and joint creation), solo works inevitably gained momentum.

Both British saxophonist COLIN WEBSTER with his vs AMP solo record (on Raw Tonk Records) and DIRK SERRIES with the first roll in a series of 7 volumes devoted to the idiosyncratic Höfner archtop guitars (on A New Wave Of Jazz) were released in 2021. Now they are joining forces to bring this to the attention live with three ‘double bill’ concerts in the Benelux.
